closing cap which is engageable with a carrier in both the closed and open conditions of the container, said cap being axially mounted on the body of the container so that when the latter is open to permit the discharge of the contents thereof, said cap remains on the carrier and so is prevented from disconnection and consequent loss. Provision is also made on said carrier for holding a brush thereon, and adapting the device to be readily hung on a desired place.

The invention is satisfactorily illustrated in the accompanying drawing, but the important instrumentalities thereof may be varied, and so it is to be understood that the invention is not limited to the specific details shown and described, as long as they are within the scope of the claims.

Figure 1 represents a perspective view of a material container and appurtenances embodying my invention.

Figures 3 and 4 represent side elevations thereof, certain members being in different positions in the two figures.

Referring to the drawings.

1 designates a container for tooth paste or other material the bodywhereof being preferably of the form of-a compressible tube or body, the same having a threaded discharge nipple 2 with which is adapted to engage the screw cap 3 for closing purposes of the container, all as usual in the art.

turned flange 7, and on said plate 4 are the inturned lips 8 which overhang said flange and engage freely the upper surface 7 thereof while the the lowersurface 7 of said flange "thus swivelling the cap on the plate and permitting it to be rotatable on the latter and retaining it in position without liability of disengagement. v

On a side of the plate 4 are the knuckles 9, and in the adjacent portion of the breast or top of the body of the container is the knuckle 10, a pintle or axial pin 11 being passed through said knuckle forming a hinged connection for said plate with said body, and thus when the cap is unscrewed, it may be turned with the plate, in the present case, to the right, thus fully uncovering the nipple 2, whereby the material in the latter may be readily removed, as will be apparent in Figure 4. Then when the plate and cap are swung back, say to the left, and thus to normal position, the cap is restored over the nipple 2 when it may be screwed thereto thus closing the body of the container, as apparent in F igures 1 and 3. In either case, the cap remains connected with the plate 4 as the carrier therefor.

A side of the plate 4 has thereon the inturned hook-like members 12 forming together the holder 13 for a tooth Or other brush and on another portion of said side is the lip or loop 14 which may be placed on a nail, screw, pin or other article, on a wall or other location providing means for hanging the device on the latter.

The slot 5 is of oval or oblong form, the same receiving the neck 6 of the cap, the lips of the plate overhanging and have freedom of motion over the upper surface of the flange of the cap, while the lower surface of the flange slides movable on the body of the plate. In this manner the lips swivelling the cap to the plate also gives freedom of motion to said flange preventing binding or jamming of the flange with the body of the plate, and the lips there on, or vice versa, as has been stated.

In cases where the knuckle of the hinge formed on the container is bent up or down, the plate being hinged thereon would follow in that direction, therefore the cap can be moved on the oval slot to its proper position on the nipple of the container.

A device of the character stated comprising a receptacle having a neck forming an outlet, a plate hinged to said receptacle slotted in register with said outlet, a cap for closing said outlet fitted to the slotted portion of said plate which cap is provided with a flanged portion and oppositelv disposed lips carried by said plate and engaging over said flanged portion for retaining said cap upon said plate during movement of the latter.

2. A device of the character stated comprising a receptacle having a neck forming an outlet a plate formed from a single piece of material hinged to said receptacle which plate is slotted in register with said outlet, a cap for closing said outlet fitted to the slotted portion of said plate which cap is provided with a flanged portion, oppositely disposed lips carried by and formed integral with said, plate and engaging over sai flanged portion for retaining said cap upon said plate during movement of the latter, and receptacle suspension means formed integral with said plate.

3. A device of the character stated com.-

prising a receptacle having a neck forming an outlet, a plate formed from a single piece of material hinged to said receptacle which plate is slotted in register with said outlet, a cap for closing said outlet fitted to the slotted portion of said plate which cap is provided with a flanged portion, oppositely disposed lips carried by and formed integral with said plate and engaging over said flanged portion for retaining said cap upon said plate during movement of the latter, and a tooth brush holder formed integral with said plate.

4. A device of the character stated comprising a receptacle having a neck forming an outlet, a plate hinged to said receptacle which plate is slotted in register with said outlet, a cap having a tubular extension for engaging over said neck to close same said extension having an annular flanged portion positioned above said plate with the lower portion of said extension arranged in the slot of said plate and a pair of lips carried by said plate engaging opposite sides of the flange upon said cap.
