A. BRESLAUER COMBINATION WIG AND BANDBAU Filed Sept. 12 1924 l N l/E/V TOH 1400071 fi/ zm Ham Arm/v57 Patented Dec. 16, 1924.
UNITED STATES ADOLPH BRESLAUER, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
COMBINATION WIG- AND BANDEAU.
Application filed September 12, 1924. Serial No. 737,236.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, AnoLrH BRnsLAUrn, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at New York city, county of New York, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Combination Wigs and Bandeaux, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a combined wig and bandeau and in particular to one which is adapted for use at social functions and the like and which can be readily attached to the head of the wearer.
A particular object of the invention is to provide awig and bandeau, the wig of which is made of hair to match the hair of the wearer and which is particularly adapted for use with bobbed hair so that the fact that the wearer has bobbed hair is concealed by the wig.
A further object of the invention is to provide a wig, the use of which will not be apparent to an observer, and one which will be capable of combining with bobbed hair to produce the effect of a full head of hair.
A further object of the invention is to provide a bandeau having a wig attached thereto, the bandeau of which in that portion at the front of the head is decorative or contains decorations to give an ornamental eflT-ect, and at the same time gives no indication that it is connected to the wig.
Referring to the drawing wherein I have shown a preferred embodiment of my invenlion:-
Figure 1 is a view of a combined wig and bandeau, the latter being made of fabric such as velvet or silk;
Figure 2 is a side view of a head, the hair thereon being bobbed, showing how the bandeau and wig are applied.
Figure 3 is a view of a head showing the bandeau and wig attached, the wig being opened up and pinned in position to cover the bobbed hair of the wearer.
Figure 1 is a front view of a modified form of bandeau and wig, the bandeau, in this instance, being provided with suitable ornaments, and
Figure 5 is a front view of a still further modified form of bandeau and wig, the bandeau in this instance being composed of shell, bone or the like and having pierced or etched therein, suitable ornamental designs.
Referring to the drawing in detail 5 indi' cates the bandeau which as illustrated in Figures 1, 2 and 3 consists of a ribbon-like piece of fabric such as velvet or silk which is adapted to be placed across the forehead of the wearer as at 6, in which position it is retained by the extended pieces 7 which are sewn or otherwise suitably attached to the ends of the bandeau as at 8. These fastening pieces may be made of elastic if desired, and the ends thereof are fastened together through the medium of a hook 9 and an eye 10 carried at the ends of the pieces 7.
The ends of the bandeau 5 carry the wigs 11, which are disposed at the opposite sides of the head of the wearer when the barn deau is in position, the ends of the hair strands being suitably glued into or otherwise attached to the said ends of the bandeau.
It will, of course, be understood that, when the bandeau is in position the extended pieces 7 are concealed beneath the hair of the wearer.
When the bandeau has been placed in position the wig portions 11 may be drawn up and pinned in position as shown in Figure 3 to conceal the bobbed hair of the wearer and give the appearance of long hair.
In the modified form of bandeau shown in Figure 4, the bandeau 12 may have attached thereto a suitable ornamental strip 13 composed of flowers or leaves 14, the ends 15 of the strip being provided with the hooks and eyes for fastening it in position, while the bandeau 12, serves: the purpose of holding the wigs as heretofore described.
In the modification shown in Figure 5 the bandeau 16 is made of shell or bone curved to approximate the contour of the head of the wearer, while to the ends thereof are suitably attached as at 17 the wig holding pieces 18 and the fastening members 19 the latter of which carry the usual hook and eye. The bandeau may be suitably ornamented, or it may be pierced or etched with a suitable design, or may be plain.
It will be seen therefore that I have provided a combined bandeau and wig which is adaptable for use on dress occasion and which may be used to conceal the fact that the wearer has bobbed hair. Also the bandeau and wig are arranged so that it is not apparent that the hair has any connection with the bandeau.
Wherever in the foregoing specification and appended claims I use the term wig it is to be understood that the same is employed in the. sense that it includes hair,
J l'iair-switches, hair combinations, or Wig, or
l. A combination wig and bandeau comprising strip member adapted to be passed around the head of the wearer, connecting members associated with the ends of said strip, and wig portions held'in position on said strip.
2. A combination wig and bandeau comprising a. strip adapted to pass around the head of the wearer, connecting members associated with the ends out-said strip, and hair strands forming awig held in the ends of said strip.
A combination wig and bandeau comprising a strip adapted to pass around the head of the. wearer, the front portion of the strip being exposed while the rear portion is concealed under the hair of the wearer, means in the rear portion of the strip for holding the same closed, and wigs attached to the opposite sides of the strip a-t the sides of the head of the wearer.
i. A combination wig and bandeau comprising a main strip adapted to be fastened about the head of the wearer, auxiliary fastening strips on the end of the main strip for retaining the same in fastened position, and wigs depending from the ends of 1 the main strip, said wigs being made of hair to match the hair of the wearer.
5. A combined wig and bandeau comprising a decorative band member, extension strips on the band member for holding the band member in position on the front of the head of the wearer, and hair wigs colored to match the. hair of the wearer, held in the ends of said band member.
