This invention relates to hair dressing accessories.y v

An obyect of this invention is to provide an appliance of the character described having `means for positively keeping the side hair loi'fV the face to effect one of theywell known 'styles in womens coiffures.

' A further object isv togprovide a device of the character described having means particularly adapted'for giving the appearance of long hair .to a coiffure wherein-the hair is drawnod the face and tightly clamped at the back of the head.

A further object of this invention is to provide a unitary device of the character del scribed having the functions of a barrette for the hair. in the back of they head and side combs for the hair at the sides.

Another object of this invention is to provide a device ofthe character described which shall be neat, compact and rugged in construction, `relatively. inexpensive to manufacture, convenient to apply and remove, and

yet practical andeiiicient to a high degree.

Other objects of this invention will in part be obvious and in part hereinafter pointed out.

`The invention accordingly consists in the features of construction, combinations of elements and arrangement of parts which will be exemplified in the construction hereinafter described,and of which the scope of application-will be indicated in the follow-ing claims.

Referring in detail to the drawing, 10 designates a hair dressing appliance embodying the invention in the form of a combined barrette and hair piece for womens coiffure. Said appliance 10 comprises a hair clampportion 11 mounting a hair piece 12.4

Said hair clamping'device or barrette 1l comprises a curved band 13 of Celluloid, horn, or the like material, adapted to fit a portion of the back ofthe users neck and interconnecting a pair of hair clamping members 14. Said members-14 are pivoted as by vpins or` rivets 15 adjacent the end portions 16 of said band 13, at the inner surface 17 thereof. Said members 14 conform generally to the curvature of said inner surface 17 and each com* prises a frame member 18 and small comb 19. Said frame member 18 'is substantially rectangular in-shape and comprises a top portion 20, a bottom portion 21, and sideportions 22. The top portion 2O is fixed to the top portion 28 of the comb 19 in any suitable manner, the teeth 24 of the latter, however, being slightly spaced from 'the sides and bottom xmember and band issuflicient for retaining said member in any position into which it may be turned about said pivot. As illustrated in Figs. 3 and 5, the members 14 are pivoted at substantially the mid-portions thereof to the band 13 and extend partially beyond the vopposite end of said band.
