Abstract

A hair extension device is provided, the device comprising: at least two panels, each panel having two strips of polyurethane; a plurality of hair having opposing ends, the first ends are sewn together and being situated between two strips, the second ends being freely movable; at least two apertures situated on opposing ends of the first panel; a string attached and secured to the apertures on the first panel; and a device for connecting the second panel to the first panel.

Description

    RELATED APPLICATION
  • This application is a continuation-in-part (CIP) of U.S. application Ser. No. 14/120,166 filed on May 1, 2014 entitled “Hair Extension Device and Related Methods of Manufacture”.
  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • 1. Field of the Invention
  • The present invention relates to a hair extension device and more specifically, a method for manufacturing a hair extension device system.
  • 2. Summary of the Invention
  • In one embodiment, the present invention relates to a hair extension device manufactured by a process comprising: providing at least two strips of polyurethane, a plurality of hair with opposing ends, at least one string and plastic beads; sewing a first end of the plurality of hair; placing the sewn end of the plurality of hair over a first strip of polyurethane; placing a second strip of polyurethane over the sewn end of the plurality of hair and the first strip; heat sealing the sewn end of said plurality of hair onto the first and second strips to form a panel, the panel having opposing ends; punching an aperture on each of the opposing ends of the panel; looping and securing the string to the plastic beads; and inserting the string into the apertures on the panel and securing the string to the panel with sewn hair using the beads to thereby form a hair extension device. In another embodiment, the second end of the plurality of hair is freely moving and unattached to one another.
  • In still another embodiment, the plurality of hair is blended together, using multiple colors to achieve a natural blend of tones prior to being sewn. In yet another embodiment, the plurality of hair is cut to a desired length prior to being sewn. In still yet another embodiment, the strips are heat sealed using a heat pressing machine. In a further embodiment, the panel is cut to a desired length prior to punching an aperture on the opposing ends.
  • In another further embodiment, the string is an elastic monofilament. In yet a further embodiment, the process further comprises making multiple pressed panels to create layers of hair.
  • In still a further embodiment, the present invention relates to a hair extension device comprising: a first strip of polyurethane having a first surface; a plurality of hair having opposing ends, the first ends are sewn together and attached to the first surface of the first strip, the second ends are freely movable; a second strip of polyurethane placed over the first end of the plurality of hair and over the first strip and then heat sealed to form a panel; at least two apertures situated on opposing ends of the panel; and a string attached and secured to the apertures on the panel.
  • In still yet a further embodiment, the device is applied to a wearer by placing the string over the wearer's chin with the plurality of hair. In another embodiment, the wearer then brings their own hair over the panel and the plurality of hair. In yet another embodiment, the wearer then moves the string to the top of the crown of the wearer's head. In still another embodiment, the device is adjusted and lies flat on the wearer's head with the plurality of hair of the device blending with wearer's own hair.
  • In still yet another embodiment, the present invention relates to a method of manufacturing a hair extension device, and the method comprising: providing a plurality of strands of hair aligned with one another to form opposing ends, and at least one string; placing a first end of the plurality of hair over a first strip of polyurethane; placing a second strip of polyurethane over the first end of the plurality of hair and the first strip; heat sealing the first end of the plurality of hair onto the first and second strips to form a panel, and the panel has opposing ends; punching an aperture on each of the opposing ends of the panel; securing the string to the apertures on the panel to thereby form a hair extension device.
  • In a further embodiment, the method further comprises making multiple pressed panels to create layers of hair. In another further embodiment, the method further comprises the step of using a plastic bead to secure the string to the panel.
  • In another embodiment, the present invention provides for a hair extension device comprising: at least two panels, each panel comprising at least two strips of polyurethane, each of the first strips has a first surface; a plurality of hair having opposing ends, the first ends are sewn together and attached to the first surface of the first strip of each of the panels, the second ends is freely movable, each of the second strips of polyurethane are placed over each of the first strips and then heat sealed to thereby form the panels, and the first panel has a first end and an opposing second end with a first aperture punched through the first end and a second aperture punched through the second end, and the second panel is attached to the first panel; and an elastic string inserted through and secured to each of the first and second apertures on the first panel wherein the string forms a single loop that is adapted to fit about the crown of a wearer's head and be hidden by the wearer's own hair.
  • In another embodiment, the first panel has a length longer than the second panel. In yet another embodiment, the first and second panels are attached with additional strips of polyurethane. In still another embodiment, the first and second panels are horizontal strips of polyurethane and the additional strips are vertical strips of polyurethane.
  • In still yet another embodiment, the device further comprises a third panel of hair, and the third panel comprises two strips of polyurethane and one end of a plurality of hair situated between the two strips, and the third panel being attached to the second panel of hair.
  • In a further embodiment, the plurality of hair is blended together, using multiple colors to achieve a natural blend of tones prior to being sewn.   • In another embodiment, the first panel is attached to the second panel using a device selected from a group consisting essentially of string, thread, clips, hooks, metals, mesh, silicone, polyurethane, nylon, elastic materials, rubber, fabrics, synthetics and combinations thereof
  • In a further embodiment, the present invention relates to a hair extension device manufactured by a process comprising: providing at least four strips of polyurethane, a plurality of hair with opposing ends, at least one string and plastic beads; sewing a first end of the plurality of hair and forming two sets of sewn hair; placing the sewn end of a first set of the sewn hair over a first strip of polyurethane; placing a second strip of polyurethane over the sewn end of the first set of the sewn hair and the first strip; heat sealing the sewn end of the plurality of hair onto the first and second strips to form a first panel, the first panel has opposing ends; placing the sewn end of a second set of the sewn hair over a third strip of polyurethane; placing a fourth strip of polyurethane over the sewn end of the second set of the sewn hair and the third strip; heat sealing the sewn end of the plurality of hair onto the third and fourth strips to form a second panel; attaching the first panel to the second panel; punching an aperture on each of the opposing ends of the first panel; looping and securing the string to the plastic beads; and inserting the string into the apertures on the first panel and securing the string to the first panel with sewn hair using the beads to thereby form a hair extension device, the string forming a single loop and being adapted to fit about the crown of a wearer's head and be hidden in the wearer's own hair. In another further embodiment, the second end of each set of the plurality of hair is freely moving and unattached to one another. In yet a further embodiment, the process further comprises making multiple pressed panels to create layers of hair.
  • In still a further embodiment, the present invention relates to a hair extension device comprising: at least three panels, each panel comprising at least two strips of polyurethane, each of the first strips having a first surface; a plurality of hair having opposing ends, the first ends are sewn together and attached to the first surface of the first strip of each of the panels, the second ends are freely movable, each of the second strips of polyurethane are placed over each of the first strips and then heat sealed to thereby form the panels, and the first panel having a first end and an opposing second end with a first aperture punched through the first end and a second aperture punched through the second end, the third panel being attached to the second panel, the second panel being attached to the first panel; and an elastic string inserted through and secured to each of the first and second apertures on the first panel wherein the string forms a single loop that is adapted to fit about the crown of a wearer's head and be hidden by the wearer's own hair.
  • In another embodiment, the third panel is detachable from the second panel. In yet another embodiment, the second panel is detachable from the first panel. In still another embodiment, the first panel has a length longer than the second panel. In still yet another embodiment, the second panel has a length longer than the third panel.
  • In a further embodiment, the present invention relates to a hair extension device comprising: a first strip having a first surface; a plurality of hair having opposing ends, the first ends being sewn together and attached to said first surface of said first strip, the second ends being freely movable; a second strip placed over the first end of the plurality of hair and over the first strip and then heat sealed to form a panel; at least two apertures situated on opposing ends of the panel; and a string attached and secured to the apertures on the panel, and the string forming a single loop and being adapted to fit about the crown of a wearer's head and be hidden in the wearer's own hair.
  • In a further embodiment, the strips are constructed of a material selected from a group comprising of silicone, polyurethane, rubber, plastics, synthetics, polymers and mixtures and combinations thereof.
  • In another further embodiment, the string is constructed of a material selected from a group comprising of threads, elastics, plastic, rubber, polymers, synthetics and mixtures and combinations thereof.
  • In yet a further embodiment, the device further comprises beads for securing the string to the panel. In still a further embodiment, the beads are constructed of a material selected from a groups comprising of plastic, polymers, rubber, synthetics and mixtures and combinations thereof In a further embodiment, the plurality of hair may be colored and cut to a desired length before being assembled.
  • In another embodiment, the present invention relates to a hair extension device comprising: at least two panels, each panel comprising at least two strips of polyurethane, each of the first strips having a first surface; a plurality of hair having opposing ends, the first ends are sewn together and attached to the first surface of the first strip of each of the panels, and the second ends is freely movable, each of the second strips of polyurethane are placed over each of the first strips and then heat sealed to thereby form the panels, the first panel has a first end and an opposing second end with a first aperture punched through the first end and a second aperture punched through the second end, the second panel is attached to said first panel; and an elastic string inserted through and secured to each of the first and second apertures on the first panel wherein the string forms a single loop that is adapted to fit about the crown of a wearer's head and be hidden by the wearer's own hair.
  • In yet another embodiment, the first panel has a length longer than the second panel. In still another embodiment, the first and second panels are attached with additional strips of polyurethane. In still yet another embodiment, the first and second panels are horizontal strips of polyurethane and the additional strips are vertical strips of polyurethane.
  • In a further embodiment, the device further comprises a third panel of hair, and the third panel comprises two strips of polyurethane and one end of a plurality of hair situated between the two strips, and the third panel is attached to the second panel of hair.
  • In yet a further embodiment, the plurality of hair is blended together, using multiple colors to achieve a natural blend of tones prior to being sewn. In still a further embodiment, the plurality of hair is cut to a desired length prior to being sewn.
  • In still yet a further embodiment, the first panel is attached to the second panel using a device selected from a group consisting essentially of string, thread, clips, hooks, metals, mesh, silicone, polyurethane, nylon, elastic materials, rubber, fabrics, synthetics and combinations thereof.
  • In another further embodiment, the present invention provides for a hair extension device manufactured by a process comprising: providing at least four strips of polyurethane, a plurality of hair with opposing ends, at least one string and plastic beads; sewing a first end of the plurality of hair and forming two sets of sewn hair; placing the sewn end of a first set of the sewn hair over a first strip of polyurethane; placing a second strip of polyurethane over the sewn end of the first set of the sewn hair and the first strip; heat sealing the sewn end of the plurality of hair onto the first and second strips to form a first panel, and the first panel has opposing ends; placing the sewn end of a second set of the sewn hair over a third strip of polyurethane; placing a fourth strip of polyurethane over the sewn end of the second set of the sewn hair and the third strip; heat sealing the sewn end of the plurality of hair onto the third and fourth strips to form a second panel; attaching the first panel to the second panel; punching an aperture on each of the opposing ends of the first panel; looping and securing the string to said plastic beads; and inserting the string into the apertures on the first panel and securing the string to the first panel with sewn hair using the beads to thereby form a hair extension device, and the string forming a single loop and is adapted to fit about the crown of a wearer's head and be hidden in the wearer's own hair. In yet another embodiment, the second end of each set of the plurality of hair is freely moving and unattached to one another.
  • In a further embodiment, the process further comprises making multiple pressed panels to create layers of hair.
  • In yet a further embodiment, the hair extension device comprising: at least three panels, each panel comprising at least two strips of polyurethane, each of the first strips having a first surface; a plurality of hair having opposing ends, said first ends being sewn together and attached to the first surface of the first strip of each of the panels, the second ends are freely movable, each of the second strips of polyurethane are placed over each of the first strips and then heat sealed to thereby form the panels, and the first panel has a first end and an opposing second end with a first aperture punched through the first end and a second aperture punched through the second end, the third panel is attached to the second panel, and the second panel is attached to the first panel; and an elastic string inserted through and secured to each of the first and second apertures on the first panel wherein the string forms a single loop that is adapted to fit about the crown of a wearer's head and be hidden by the wearer's own hair.
  • In still a further embodiment, the third panel is detachable from the second panel. In another embodiment, the second panel is detachable from the first panel. In yet another embodiment, the first panel has a length longer than the second panel. In still another embodiment, the second panel has a length longer than the third panel.
  • In a further embodiment, the present invention relates to a hair extension device comprising: a first strip having a first surface; a plurality of hair having opposing ends, the first ends are sewn together and attached to the first surface of the first strip, and the second ends are freely movable; a second strip placed over the first end of said plurality of hair and over the first strip and then heat sealed to form a panel; at least two apertures situated on opposing ends of the panel; and a string attached and secured to the apertures on the panel, and the string forming a single loop and is adapted to fit about the crown of a wearer's head and be hidden in the wearer's own hair.
  • In another embodiment, the device further comprises beads for securing the string to the panel. In another further embodiment, the beads are constructed of a material selected from a groups comprising of plastic, polymers, rubber, synthetics and mixtures and combinations thereof. In yet another further embodiment, the plurality of hair may be colored and cut to a desired length before being assembled.

  • FIG. 1 is a side perspective view of hair extension device of the present invention;
  • FIG. 2 is a perspective view of the plurality of hair being cut to a desired length and sewn on one of their ends;
  • FIG. 3 is an exploded view of the device showing the plurality of hair and the two strips of polyurethane;
  • FIG. 4 is a perspective view of the assembly of the device, in particular, the creation of a hole and attachment of the string;
  • FIG. 5 is a perspective view of another embodiment showing two panels;
  • FIG. 6 is a perspective view of another embodiment showing three panels; and
  • FIG. 7 is a perspective view of FIG. 6 showing the disassembled panels.
  • Among those benefits and improvements that have been disclosed, other objects and advantages of this invention will become apparent from the following description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings. The drawings constitute a part of this specification and include exemplary embodiments of the present invention and illustrate various objects and features thereof.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • As required, detailed embodiments of the present invention are disclosed herein; however, it is to be understood that the disclosed embodiments are merely exemplary of the invention that may be embodied in various forms. The figures are not necessarily to scale, some features may be exaggerated to show details of particular components. Therefore, specific structural and functional details disclosed herein are not to be interpreted as limiting, but merely as a basis for the claims and as a representative basis for teaching one skilled in the art to variously employ the present invention.
  • FIG. 1 illustrates a hair extension device 1 comprising: a first strip of polyurethane 3 b; a plurality of hair 2 having opposing ends, 2 a and 2 b respectively, the first ends 2 a are sewn together and attached to the first strip 3 b; the second ends 2 b are freely movable and a second strip 3 a of polyurethane placed over the first ends 2 a of the plurality of hair 2 and over the first strip 3 b and then heat sealed to form a panel 9; at least two apertures, 4 a and 4 b respectively, situated on opposing ends of the panel 9; and a string 5 attached and secured to the apertures 4 a and 4 b on the panel 9.
  • FIG. 2 depicts how the plurality of hair 2 is cut to a desired length using a cutting device 18 and the first end 2 a of the plurality of hair 2 is sewn together using a sewing device 10. FIG. 3 shows how the sewn end 2 a of the plurality of hair 2 is placed on a surface 8 of the first strip 3 b of polyurethane. A second strip 3 a of polyurethane is then place over the first strip 2 b and is heat sealed to form a panel 9. FIG. 4 illustrates how at least two apertures, 4 a and 4 b respectively, are formed on the panel 9 using a hole punching device 30. A string 5 having opposing ends, 5 a and 5 b respectively, are attached to apertures 4 a and 4 b.
  • FIG. 5 shows a hair extension device 100 comprising: two panels 200 and 500, each panel comprising at least two strips of polyurethane 30 a and 30 b, each of the first strips having a first surface; a plurality of hair 20 having opposing ends, the first ends 20 a are sewn together and attached to the first surface of the first strip of each of the panels, and the second ends 20 b are freely movable, the first panel has at least two apertures 40 a and 40 b respectively, the second panel 500 is attached to the first panel 200 with a device 60; and an elastic string 50 inserted through and secured to each of the first and second apertures 40 a and 40 b wherein the string 50 forms a single loop that is adapted to fit about the crown of a wearer's head and be hidden by the wearer's own hair.
  • FIGS. 6-7 show another embodiment of the hair extension device 1000 where there are at least three panels, 200, 700 and 900 respectively. Each panel comprising at least two strips of polyurethane 300 a and 300 b, each of the first strips having a first surface; a plurality of hair 20 having opposing ends, the first ends 20 a are sewn together and attached to the first surface of the first strip of each of the panels, and the second ends 20 b are freely movable. The first panel 200 has at least two apertures 400 a and 400 b respectively, the second panel 700 is attached to the first panel 200 and the third panel 900 attached to the second panel 700 with a device 600. There is an elastic string 50 inserted through and secured to each of the first and second apertures 400 a and 400 b wherein the string 50 forms a single loop that is adapted to fit about the crown of a wearer's head and be hidden by the wearer's own hair.
  • FIG. 7 shows how panels 700 and 900 are detachable and re-attachable to the first panel 200 using devices 600.
  • It is noted that other materials besides polyurethane may be used to form the panel 9. It is further noted that the hair extension device 1 of the present invention can be manufactured by hand or by machine. The hair can be human, animal or synthetic.
  • Numerous modifications and variations of the present invention are possible in light of the above teachings. It is therefore to be understood that within the scope of the attendant claims attached hereto, this invention may be practiced otherwise than as specifically disclosed herein.

Claims (30)

What is claimed is:
1. A hair extension device comprising:
at least two panels, each panel comprising at least two strips of polyurethane, each of said first strips having a first surface;
a plurality of hair having opposing ends, said first ends being sewn together and attached to said first surface of said first strip of each of said panels, said second ends being freely movable, each of said second strips of polyurethane are placed over each of said first strips and then heat sealed to thereby form said panels, said first panel having a first end and an opposing second end with a first aperture punched through said first end and a second aperture punched through said second end, said second panel being attached to said first panel; and
an elastic string inserted through and secured to each of said first and second apertures on said first panel wherein said string forms a single loop that is adapted to fit about the crown of a wearer's head and be hidden by the wearer's own hair.
2. The device of claim 1 wherein said first panel has a length longer than said second panel.
3. The device of claim 1 wherein said first and second panels are attached with additional strips of polyurethane.
4. The device of claim 3 wherein said first and second panels are horizontal strips of polyurethane and said additional strips are vertical strips of polyurethane.
5. The device of claim 1 further comprising a third panel of hair, said third panel comprising two strips of polyurethane and one end of a plurality of hair situated between said two strips, said third panel being attached to said second panel of hair.
6. The device of claim 1 wherein said plurality of hair is blended together, using multiple colors to achieve a natural blend of tones prior to being sewn.
7. The device of claim 1 wherein said plurality of hair is cut to a desired length prior to being sewn.
8. The device of claim 1 wherein said string is an elastic monofilament.
9. The device of claim 1 wherein said strips are heat sealed using a heat pressing machine.
10. The device of claim 1 wherein said first panel is attached to said second panel using a device selected from a group consisting essentially of string, thread, clips, hooks, metals, mesh, silicone, polyurethane, nylon, elastic materials, rubber, fabrics, synthetics and combinations thereof.
11. A hair extension device manufactured by a process comprising:
providing at least four strips of polyurethane, a plurality of hair with opposing ends, at least one string and plastic beads;
sewing a first end of said plurality of hair and forming two sets of sewn hair;
placing said sewn end of a first set of said sewn hair over a first strip of polyurethane;
placing a second strip of polyurethane over said sewn end of said first set of said sewn hair and said first strip;
heat sealing said sewn end of said plurality of hair onto said first and second strips to form a first panel, said first panel having opposing ends;
placing said sewn end of a second set of said sewn hair over a third strip of polyurethane;
placing a fourth strip of polyurethane over said sewn end of said second set of said sewn hair and said third strip;
heat sealing said sewn end of said plurality of hair onto said third and fourth strips to form a second panel;
attaching said first panel to said second panel;
punching an aperture on each of said opposing ends of said first panel;
looping and securing said string to said plastic beads; and
inserting said string into said apertures on said first panel and securing said string to said first panel with sewn hair using said beads to thereby form a hair extension device, said string forming a single loop and being adapted to fit about the crown of a wearer's head and be hidden in the wearer's own hair.
12. The process of claim 11 wherein said second end of each set of said plurality of hair is freely moving and unattached to one another.
13. The process of claim 11 wherein said plurality of hair is blended together, using multiple colors to achieve a natural blend of tones prior to being sewn.
14. The process of claim 11 wherein said plurality of hair is cut to a desired length prior to being sewn.
15. The process of claim 11 wherein said strips are heat sealed using a heat pressing machine.
16. The process of claim 11 wherein said panel is cut to a desired length prior to punching an aperture on said opposing ends.
17. The process of claim 11 wherein said string is an elastic monofilament.
18. The process of claim 11 further comprising making multiple pressed panels to create layers of hair.
19. The process of claim 1 wherein said first panel is attached to said second panel using a device selected from a group consisting essentially of string, thread, clips, hooks, metals, mesh, silicone, polyurethane, nylon, elastic materials, rubber, fabrics, synthetics and combinations thereof.
20. A hair extension device comprising:
at least three panels, each panel comprising at least two strips of polyurethane, each of said first strips having a first surface;
a plurality of hair having opposing ends, said first ends being sewn together and attached to said first surface of said first strip of each of said panels, said second ends being freely movable, each of said second strips of polyurethane are placed over each of said first strips and then heat sealed to thereby form said panels, said first panel having a first end and an opposing second end with a first aperture punched through said first end and a second aperture punched through said second end, said third panel being attached to said second panel, said second panel being attached to said first panel; and
an elastic string inserted through and secured to each of said first and second apertures on said first panel wherein said string forms a single loop that is adapted to fit about the crown of a wearer's head and be hidden by the wearer's own hair.
21. The device of claim 20 wherein said third panel is detachable from said second panel.
22. The device of claim 20 wherein said second panel is detachable from said first panel.
23. The device of claim 20 wherein said first panel has a length longer than said second panel.
24. The device of claim 20 wherein said second panel has a length longer than said third panel.
25. A hair extension device comprising:
a first strip having a first surface;
a plurality of hair having opposing ends, said first ends being sewn together and attached to said first surface of said first strip, said second ends being freely movable;
a second strip placed over said first end of said plurality of hair and over said first strip and then heat sealed to form a panel;
at least two apertures situated on opposing ends of said panel; and
a string attached and secured to said apertures on said panel, said string forming a single loop and being adapted to fit about the crown of a wearer's head and be hidden in the wearer's own hair.
26. The device of claim 25 wherein said strips are constructed of a material selected from a group comprising of silicone, polyurethane, rubber, plastics, synthetics, polymers and mixtures and combinations thereof.
27. The device of claim 25 wherein said string is constructed of a material selected from a group comprising of threads, elastics, plastic, rubber, polymers, synthetics and mixtures and combinations thereof.
28. The device of claim 25 further comprising beads for securing said string to said panel.
29. The device of claim 28 wherein said beads are constructed of a material selected from a groups comprising of plastic, polymers, rubber, synthetics and mixtures and combinations thereof.
30. The device of claim 25 wherein said plurality of hair may be colored and cut to a desired length before being assembled.
