5 Claims. (01. 132-42) This invention relates to hair wavers and is preferably termed a hairtreat waver.

One important object of the invention is to provide a novel form of hair waving device of highly elastic character.

A second important object of the invention is to provide a novel form of hair waver on which the hair may be tightly wrapped and which waver is made from highly elastic material so that, after the hair has been wrapped on the waver, it will remain constantly under tension until removed from the waver.

A third important object of the invention is to provide novel means of this character arranged to hold the hair in place after it has been wound thereon.

With the above and other objects in view, the invention consists in general of certain novel details of construction and combinations of parts hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing and particularly pointed out in the claims.

In the accompanying drawing like characters of reference indicate like parts in the several views, and:

Figure 1 is a side elevation of the improved hair waver.

Figure 2 is a vertical longitudinal section through the waver.

Figure 3 is a bottom plan view of the waver as shown in Figure 1.

Figure 4 is an enlarged cross-section through the device on the line 4-4 of Figure 1.

Figure 5 is a side elevation, partly broken away of an auxiliary elastic sleeve which may be used with the waver.

In the embodiment of the invention as here shown there is provided a core ID of elongated cylindrical form and this core may be made of any suitable highly elastic material, sponge rubber being preferably used. Preferably the core is provided with rounded ends. An inner cove-r II is wrapped around the core l0 and is made preferably of paper or other material such as fabric, leather or a synthetic pliable material. Over the inner wrapper extends an outer wrapper or cover [2 preferably in the form of a seamless tube of knitted or woven fabric although paper, leather or synthetic material may be also used.

An elastic band [3 extends from end to end of the body of the device and is secured at each end by a wrapping M which also pinches in the covering material to close over the ends of the core. The elastic band may be made of any desired material such as rubber, fabric, leather or synthetic materials and the wrapping may be of thread or Wire. Also, the elastic band may be adhesively secured at its ends to the ends of the body. This elastic band is preferably so under tension that the body is slightly bowed as shown. To ornament the device the ends of the outer wrapper may be frayed out to provide tassels I 5.

As an auxiliary element of the invention a hair covering sleeve it of elastic material may be provided, this sleeve being of proper size to fit closely over the hair when wrapped on the device.

In using the invention each tress or look of hair is wrapped tightly around the device and the end tucked in between the body and elastic band so that it is there held. The hair is allowed to remain on for the usual time and then the waver removed. If desired, the sleeve I6 may be placed over the hair and waver after the hair has been wrapped.

There has thus been provided a simple and efficient device of the kind described and for the purpose specified.

It is obvious that changes may be made in the form and construction of the invention without departing from the material principles involved. It is not therefore, desired to confine the invention to the exact form herein shown and described but it is desired to include all such as come within the scope claimed.

What is claimed is:

1. A hair waver including a body having a core of highly elastic material, an inner wrapper surrounding said core, a seamless tubular outer wrapper fitted over the inner wrapper, binding means compressing the ends of the outer wrapper at each end of the core, and an elastic band extending from end to end of the body and having its ends secured to the body at the ends thereof.

2. A hair waver including a body having a core of highly elastic material, an inner wrapper surrounding said core, a seamless tubular outer wrapper fitted over the inner wrapper, binding means compressing the ends of the outer wrapper at each end of the core, and an elastic band extending from end to end of the body and having its ends secured to the body at the ends thereof, said band being tensioned to slightly bow the body.

A hair waver including a body of sponge rubber, said body being of elongated cylindrical form, a paper inner wrapper surrounding the core, a seamless fabric tube fitting closely over the inner wrapper and having its ends projecting beyond the ends of the core, and a binder wrapping bound around each end of the sleeve and binding it closely to the ends of the core.

A hair waver including a body of sponge rubber, said body being-of elongated cylindrical form, a paper inner wrapper surrounding the core, a seamless fabric tube fitting closely over the inner wrapper and having its ends projecting beyond the ends of the core, and a binder wrapping bound around each end of the sleeve and binding it closely to the ends of the core, and an elastic band extending from end to end of the body and having its ends bound to the body by the binder wrappings.

A hair waver including a body of sponge rubber, said body being of elongated cylindrical form, a paper inner wrapper surrounding the core, a seamless fabric tube fitting closely over the inner wrapper and having its ends projecting beyond the ends of the core, a binder wrapping bound around each end of the sleeve and binding it closely to the ends of the core, and an elastic band extending from end to end of the body and having its ends bound to the body by the binder wrappings, said band being tensioned to slightly bow the body.
