sclaims.l (01.1325-53) This invention relates to eye decorations.

It is an object of the present invention to provide an ornamental eye piece which may be easily and readily mounted upon the upper eye lashes of the user to create a novel, ornamental effect.

It is another object of the present invention to provide an ornamental eye piece of the above type which will shade the eyes of the wearer in a novel manner to increase the attractiveness of the same.

It is still another object of the present invention to provide an ornamental eye piece of the above type which may be alternately flexed in opposite directions depending upon the effect which the wearer desires to create.

It is still another object of the present invention to provide an ornamental eye piece of the above type which is particularly useful to theatrical persons and television actors.

Other objects of the invention are to provide an ornamental eye piece bearing the above objects in mind which is of simple construction, has a minimum number of parts, is inexpensive to manufacture and effective in use.

For other objects and a better understanding -of the invention, reference may be had to the following detailed description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, in which:

Figure 1 is a top plan view of a preferred embodiment of the present invention;

Figure 2 is a Vertical sectional view thereof taken along the line 2-2 of Figure 1;

Figure 3 is a perspective view showing the invention in operative use;

Figure 4 is a Vertical sectional view taken along the line 4-4 of Figure 3 and illustrating the transverse curvature in one direction;

Figure 5 is a perspective view illustrating the invention in operative use on both eyes of the wearer and indicating one ornamental efiect which may be created to increase the attractveness of the eyes and Figure 6 is a perspective view of the invention in operative use but fiexed in the reverse direction to create a different ornamental effect.

Referring now more in detail to the drawing, 10 represents a crescent shaped layer of fine mesh material, for example, nylon mesh having the convex edge 11 and the concave curved edge 12, substantially as illustrated.

A pressure sensitive adhesive 13 (Figure 2) is secured to one face of the crescentshaped material 10 along the concave edge 12 thehreof. This edge of the crescent shaped material 10 is then folded in the direction of the arrow of Figure 2 to provide the configuration of Figure 4, with the pressure sensitive adhesive 13 disposed on the undersurface of the ornamental eye piece and being secured by manual pressure to the upper eye lashes 14 of the wearer.

The length of the crescent shaped material 10 is such as to extend outwardly beyond the outer ends of the eyes 15, as shown in Figure 5.

Due to the curvature of the inner edge 12, a. transverse e i lz,862,509 Patented Dec. 2, 19578 "ice curvature will be imparted to the eye piece, as shown in Figure 4 (see also Figure 3). Thus, one ornamental effect is created.

This fiexure may be reversed by snapping the crescent shaped material 10 upwardly so 'as to present a convex upper surface, and aconcave lower surface, as shown in Figures 5 and 6. Thus, an entirely different ornamental effect is created about the eyes of the wearer.

Also, as shown in Figures 5 and 6, the extended ends of the ornamental eye pieces may be fiexed longitudinally upwardly or downwardly, depending upon the shape of the Wearer's eyes. For example, as shown in Figure 5, the extend'ed'ends ofthe ornamental eye piece may lbe fiexed upwardly longitudinally. This is particularly useful for women who have round or wide eyes, the ornamental eye pieces increasing the illusion of length and adding thereby to the attractiveness of the eyes themselves.

Or, alternately, as shown in Figure 6, the extended portions may be fiexed downwardly longitudinally to correct for the sloe-eyed effect of the eyes 15a. Thus, a person with Oriental appearng eyes is imparted a more occidental appearance.

The ornamental eye pieces will also serve as eye shades and are particularly useful where it is desired to create a heavy-lidded effect, for example during television plays 'or stage productions.

It will be noted that due to the pressure sensitive adhesive 13, the ornamental eye pieces may be easily and readily mounted or removed as desired. Due to the nature of the material, the weight of the eye pieces is negligible, and will not result in eye fatigue after prolonged wear. t

It should now be apparent that there has been provided an ornamental eye piece which maybe easily and readily mounted on the upper eye lashes of the wearer to increase the attractiveness of the eyes and to correct for pronounced optical effects on the part of the wearer.

It Will also be apparent that there has been provided an ornamental eye piece which may be fiexed in opposite directions both laterally and longitudinally, depending upon the visual effect which it is desired to impart to the wearer.

While various changes may be made in the detail construction, it shall be understood that such changes shall be within the spirit and scope of the present invention as defined by the appended claims.

I claim:

1. Anv ornamental eye piece comprising a substantially crescent shaped sheet of semi-rigid material of netted texture having a concave edge and a convex edge, and pressure sensitive adhesive means provided along the said concave edge for mounting said eye piece on the upper eye lashes of the eye whereby to shade the eye in an ornamental and attractive manner.

An ornamental eye piece comprising a substantially crescent shaped open weave sheet of semi-rigd fine mesh wire material having a convex edge and a concave edge, said concave edge being adapted to overlie the upper eye lashes of the wearer, and pressure sensitive means secured to said concave edge for securing the eye piece to the upper eye lids, said concave edge imparting a transverse curvature to the eye piece in a lateral direction to permt said eye piece to be alternately flexed upwardly or downwardly to impart different ornamental effects to the eyes. c,

An ornamental eye piece comprising a substantially crescent shaped open weave layer of fine mesh wire material of semi-rigid physical characteristics having a convex edge and a concave edge, said concave edge being adapted to be positioned on the upper eye lashes of the wearer, pressure sensitive adhesive means secured to said concayefedge for positiom'ng said eye piece on the eye lashes of the Wearer, said concave edge imparting a transverse curvature to said eye piece, said eye piece being adapted to be flexed upwardly or downwardly whereby to impart differentornamentai effects to the eyes of the Wearer, said eye piece extending.outwardlyjbeyond the ends of the eyes and vbeing adapted to be flexedupwardly or downwardly longtudinally whereby to, furtherjvary the ornamental effect on the eyes. i

An ornamental eye piece comprising a suhstantially crescent shaped serni-rigid open Weave material of fine mesh Wire adapted to shade the eyes of the wearer,` said crescent shaped material having a convex edge and a concave edge, said concave edge at one end being adapted to be positioned on the upper eyelids of the wearer, a pressure Sensitive adhesive secured to one face of said eye piece along said concave edge, said concave edge being folded under said eye piece with said adhesive disposed lowermost and in contact with the eyelids of the wearer, said concave edge imparting a transverse curvature to said eye piece, said eye piece being adapted to be flexed upwardly or downwardly whereby to vary said transverse curvature and to create varied ornamental effects, said eye piece at the outer ends thereof extending outwardly beyond the ends of the eyes, said eye piece being adapted to be flexed longitudinally at the extended end portions upwardiy or downwardly whereby to further vary the ornamental effect of the eyes and to correct for pronounced optical characteristics.
