HAIR STRUCTU RE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters latent No. 513,579, dated January 30, 1894.. Application filed July 22, 1893. Serial No. 481,178. (No model.)
To aZZ whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, HERMANN KINZLY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Indianapolis, in the county of Marion and State of Indiana, have invented certain new and usefulImprovements in Hair Structures, of which the following is a specification.
Hair structures, such as bangs, wigs, 850., as ordinarily constructed, consist simply of a base or frame through which the hair is drawn, the doubled portion of the hair (under the base) being exposed, and consequently apt to work through, and come in contact with the wearers head, which is disagreeable, and
also to work out and become lost.
One object of my present invention is to provide a base which shall be so constructed as to guard against these disadvantages; and a further object is to construct a base having a new and desirable form, all as will be hereinafter more particularly described and claimed.
Referring to the accompanying drawings, which are made a part hereof, and on which similar letters of reference indicate similar parts, Figure 1 is an under side plan view of a hair bang provided with a base embodying my said invention; Fig. 2 an under side view of the base separately, with a portion of one layer of fabric broken away, and Fig. 3 a central view of a portion of said base, on a larger and much exaggerated scale, on the dotted line 3 3 in Fig. 2.
The base or frame consists of a main oval loop A, and a transverse loop A, with such cross-bars a as the size of the base or frame requires in order to provide the necessary amount of attaching surface. This base or frame is made first of a layer or portion of a the hair, B, is attached in the ordinary manner, and is afterward covered with a separate layer or portion of fabric, 6, stitched to the edges of the first, as shown most plainly in Fig. 3, which completely covers the hair at the points where it passes through the fabric, preventing it from coming out, and protecting the head of the wearer from contact therewith. V
The frame or base is in itself of a desirable form. By means of two loops crossing each other, with transverse bars, as may be necessary according to size, I secure a simple and inexpensive construction, and one which is readily concealed by the hair, and easily adapted to any desired form, so that it will fit Well upon the head. The ends of the frame being narrow and free from the supporting or restraining influences which would exist in the edge of a frame having a uniform outline, they are permitted to bend down to the form of the head easily and closely, as will be readily understood.
Having thus fully described my said invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A hair structure consisting of a base or frame composed of substantially oval loops crossing each other, and having the hair secured thereto by inserting the same through a portion of said base, said inserted portion being covered, substantially as set forth.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal, at Indianapolis, Indiana, this 19th day of July, A. D. 1893.
