Abstract

Headband comprising wefts of human hair or synthetic hair and made of elastic material. The hair wefts are mounted in the centre by means of short stitches. The wefts are sewn onto the headband, where after the band is closed by stitching and subsequently turned inside out. The result is an elastic band with all stitches trapped inside the fabric of the band.

Description

Headband comprising hair wefts.
The invention relates to a headband comprising human- or synthetic hair wefts.
The headband is intended for those persons who turn bald, for example as a result of an illness. The headband is worn in combination with a hat or a head scarf.
US 5,806,535 and US 6,830,054 describe headbands wherein the wefts have been sewn onto a band. The disadvantage of this procedure is that the part on which the hair wefts are mounted is not elastic and especially that the stitching might irritate the scalp.
The invention now relates to a headband that is elastic, so that the band may be worn without additional appliances, the construction being such that ultimately all tough parts and the stitches are on the inside of the headband.
To that end the band is folded after the attachment of the hair wefts and stitched through, after which the band is turned inside out. This results in a band with a soft feeling which can be worn well.
The invention is elucidated by means of the drawings.
Fig. 1 shows a girl's head with headband.
Fig. 2 shows a hair weft.
Fig. 3 shows the opened headband with the hair wefts attached onto it.
Fig. 4 shows the wefts folded within the headband.
Fig. 5 shows cross-section 3-3.
Fig. 6 shows the cross-section over the folded headband.
Fig. 7 shows the cross-section over the headband turned inside out.
Fig. 1 shows in (1) the headband with hair wefts (2). Hair wefts (2) are provided in different lengths with human hair or synthetic hair. The hair has become a firm unit by means of stitching onto a band (3). It has been found that the hair wefts can be divided into small sections. In order to prevent fraying, the ends of the wefts (4) can be finished with glue. The headband (1) should preferably be manufactured from an elastic material, such as knitted fabric.
The small sections of hair wefts (2) are stitched along the rim (5) of the headband (1 ), but with the hairs directed towards the centre of the band. The hair weft is attached in the centre with a short stitching (6). By attaching the hair wefts (2) next to and above each other, the exterior of the headband may be changed.
As the hair wefts (2) are mounted by short stitches (6), the band remains elastic.
After the hair wefts (2) have been mounted, the headband (1 ) is folded with the hairs at the inside and closed with elastic zigzag stitch seam (7). A second elastic zigzag seam (8) is laid along the hair wefts (2). See Figs. 4 and 6.
Now the headband (1) is turned inside out, such that the hairs are on the outside and all the stitches are at the inside. See Fig. 7. Finally, the band is closed with a small transverse seam in the form of a concealed seam.
The material of the headband should preferably be stretchable knitted fabric.
The procedure is as follows:
Knitted fabric is used to cut out the pattern of the band.
The band is folded and stitched elastically over the section where there will be no hair wefts.
The band is sealed partially.
Subsequently the hair wefts are mounted according to schedule.
The band is closed over the section with the hair wefts.
The second seam is laid.
The headband is turned inside out and the last opening is stitched.

Claims

Claims:
1. Headband comprising an elastic band which is fitted with hair wefts characterised in that the prefabricated hair wefts are attached in sections (2) with a length of between 1 and 35 cm at the centre (6), such that the sections off hair wefts (2) overlap.
2. Headband according to claim 1 characterised in that the hair wefts (2) are attached onto the band (1) with the hairs pointed towards the centre of the headband (1), where after the band (1 ) is folded and is closed by stitching and subsequently turned inside out, so that the hairs come on the outside and the stitches remain within the elastic band (1 ).
3. Headband according to any one of claims 1 and 2 characterised in that the transverse seam is positioned in the centre of the section with the hair wefts (2).
4. Headband according to any one of claims 1 , 2 and 3 characterised in that the transverse seam is positioned in the section without any hair wefts (2).
